The little girl in this book really loves her hippie grandmother with her purple bus, banjo, and habit of picketing city hall. The girl clearly enjoys her grandmother’s hippie lifestyle and the fun they have together. Her grandmother says that the girl will someday find her perfect job, but the little girl wants to be a hippie grandmother just like hers. This charming story about the love between a grandmother and granddaughter is told in the form of a rhyming poem. Occasionally, the poem gets a bit too sing-songy or the rhymes a little strange, but for the most part the poem format works fairly well and would probably lend itself to being read out loud rather nicely. The bright, psychedelic colored illustrations are done primarily in watercolor and they really suit the story. Kids between the ages of 3 and 8 will delight at this fun story. ( ) A sweet book told from the perspective a little child that obviously loves a hippie grandmother and the lifestyle that goes with it. There are probably many families with a hippie grandmother (or two!) and while it might seem twee to some, it is nice to see a grandparent depicted as something other than the normal 'sweet-old-thing' and something probably closer to what many young children today would recognise as their grandparent. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
