Summary: the tale of a gingerbread man who tries to run away from being caught by its creator and things that want to eat him. Eventually, he was eaten by the fox who tricked him that he was going to be safe in his mouth.

I liked this book because of the illustrations and the repetition. The author uses the illustrations to help the reader really picture what is going on and establish a mood of the text. For example, on pages 18-19 the illustrations she the bear running and then sitting down because the gingerbread man ran faster. This helps the reader see the sequence of events in the story. I also like the repetition in the story. For example, the author repeats the phrase, "had to sit down and rest." This allows the book to be a great read aloud and interactive/predictable text for young readers. The purpose of this story is to entertain and teach a lesson that you can't always trust as easy as you want to. ( )

Summary: The little boys grandmother bakes him a gingerbread man and tells the boy not to open the oven until it is done. The boy couldn't wait and decided to just take a little peak, but when he did the gingerbread jumped out of the over and ran away. The gingerbread man ran away from the little boy, the grandma, the grandpa, farmers, a bear, and a wolf. Once he met up with the fox, he thought he could out run him too. The fox kept saying he couldn't hear the gingerbread man until he got close enough to eat the gingerbread man.

Personal Reaction: I think this is a cute book. I enjoyed reading this book, because it was a book that was read to me when I was a child.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. We could make our own gingerbread men and decorate them.

I enjoyed this story for two reasons. First, I liked the illustrations that were used. They helped add to the story and helped me to visualize what the author intended, like when the Gingerbread Man was running down the street and the boy was chasing after him. I also liked the word choice made by the author. There were some repetitive aspects like when the Gingerbread Man would say, "run run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man." This is something entertaining for the readers that sticks with them, even after the story is done. The big idea of the book is to listen to your elders, because if you do not, there could be negative consequences that follow. ( )

This audio book is about the gingerbread man. The old woman bakes a gingerbread man for her boy.
She tells him not to open the oven door and she gardens. The little boy watched the oven and he could smell the gingerbread.
He wants to see if he looks as good as it smells. The gingerbread man hopped out of the oven, out of the house, into the road.
He sings out you can't catch me because I'm the gingerbread man.
The old man and old woman run after him but he's so much faster. He came to some farmers. He tells them who he's run away from and they say they can catch him.
They toss their rakes down and can't catch him. he meets up with a bear and same thing happens.
He then comes to a wolf. He tells the wolf who he's run away from and that he can run away from the wolf also. The wolf tries to catch him also...
