NCLA Review: While most couples begin their marriage fully expecting to live happily after, the reality is that more than half of these marriages fail. It does not have to be this way. Pastor Clayton King and his wife Charie offer wisdom from their ten year marriage, as well as Biblical wisdom, to improve these odds. From their perspective, godly unions of a lifetime come out of a heart of service in which love is more about understanding your spouse than being understood. The Kings suggest twelve relationship-building questions for couples to ask before their wedding day. These questions include: past relationships, religious backgrounds, financial goals and habits, desires for family and the future, being willing to submit and vocational aspirations. The answers reveal the expectations, concerns, needs and hopes of their partners. If the questions are answered honestly, they provide guidance for lasting relationships. I liked the stories they told from their own marriage which emphasized communication and staying committed to each other to get them through the touch times.
