It really gives good insight into the history and ethos of the age. The essay on child prodigies is also helpful. ( ) Another great job by Jeremy Siepmann! After giving up on another Mozart book (Holmes), I found this quite readable, enjoyable, and edifying. The combination of music CDs that are referenced throughout the book really enhanced the experience. I have a renewed appreciation of Mozart, the man and composer. However, I think I will now always feel a tinge of sadness when listening to his music. His father, while raising a genius, did some real damage to his son. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the most astonishing child prodigy in the history of music, is felt by many people to be the greatest composer who ever lived. Dominated and shaped by a highly intelligent but frustrated and ambitious father, his story sees the development of a unique genius, from precocious and often endearing childhood to liberated fulfilment, unexpected poverty, and a tragically early death. Generously illustarated by Mozart's music, from his fifth to his final year, this portrait-in-sound reveals a fascinating yet elusive character, drawing richly on the words of the composer himsef and those who knew him.
