Once I realised who Todd Hunter is, I found that the book skirted the elephant in the room. Bishop Hunter is a church planter with the Anglican Mission in the Americas, which is an evangelical alternative to the Episcopal Church USA (ECUSA) under the auspices of the Anglican Archbishop of Rwanda. The elephant is the potentially subversive nature of his mission, which could be seen as undermining traditional concepts of episcopacy. As an evangelical, I am no fan of recent developments in ECUSA, and some alternative like the Anglican Mission is inevitable. But I was a little taken aback that Hunter could wax lyrical about the attractions of Anglicanism and its place in the church catholic without addressing these issues that arise from his mission.
Perhaps Hunter's next book will be an apology for his mission?
