A great book with familiar characters from "The Last Pope". As mentioned in another review, I am Catholic and a former Catechism Teacher for three years at St Mary''s School in Auburn, NY. I have always enjoyed conspiracies of the Church as a plot in any thriller...there are many. It had been about a year previously, when I read "The Last Pope" by the same author, but immediately recognized the main characters. I look forward to new books by this author, and highly recommend them all! Pope Benedict learns a worrisome secret on the night he becomes Pope. The secret is in document in the possession of millionaire Ben Isaac where it has been guarded carefully for 50 years, But now Ben Isaac's son has been kidnapped, setting a 24 hour mystery in motion. Raphael, Catholic priest and agent, becomes involved to try to obtain the documents before they can be used to expose the Church. An enjoyable page-turner. The first third of the book, where many characters and stories, is confusing. The reader is not always sure which story is continuing when the author uses only pronouns for the first few paragraphs. A title with location (Paris, the Vatican, London) would have been helpful. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

The best-kept secret of the Catholic Church. A set of ancient scrolls which threaten that secret. And a journalist who has made it her life mission to discover the truth-at any cost. In Iznik, Turkey, an elderly historian finds a set of ancient church scrolls. Dating back to A.D. 325, the scrolls are the greatest discovery of all time, and possibly a threat to the best-kept secret of the Catholic Church. But before the man can study them, he's found dead. Suspicious about what the historian may have uncovered, Rafael, the shadowy priest/operative, is sent to investigate. He discovers evidence that may implicate Sarah Montiero, the British journalist who already knows too many of the Church's secrets. In the Pope's personal library is a copy of the document in question- the first thing a Pope reads when he is elected, handed down only upon his coronation. Will the world soon learn what revelations it holds? Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
