( ) Never judge a book by it's cover. haha. I expected a cutesy vampire story from the cover. What I got was an erotic vampire story that heated up this Alaskan girl. It was a fun read with lots of humor as well as the heat. So if you are looking for a fast, somewhat dark but funny, sexy vampire book to sink your teeth into and warm up your blood, grab this one. This Author is one of my favorites and this well-written book did not disappoint. With loads of action, sizzling bedroom scenes and a mysterious murder to solve, this installment is a must read! I started this book with a thought in the back of my head of the movie Clue. Haha, I was thinking the butler did it in the parlor with a candlestick. Alas, that’s not how it played out. As a matter of fact, it played out so much better. The title suggests that there is an Inn that vampires go to for vacation. In true vampire fashion this Inn provides rooms for any sexual appetite and willing donors. Written from the point of view of one of the main characters, known to the clients as Vivian, she has to shield her age and power from customers to make them feel comfortable during their stay. With vampires, it’s all about power and who has the most. Makes sense to put them all at ease and not create power struggles during their stay. I feel this novel is a must read and I recommend to all paranormal fans out there. This copy gifted to me by the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. Dria, a very old vampire and her human husband, Rafe, own property and a resort covering fifteen miles in Alaska. The resort caters to vacationing vampires and their entourages with a heavy emphasis on sex. The resort even includes some sex-themed rooms. The mystery surrounds the corpse of a human found in one of the rooms being checked prior to a group’s arrival. I had not been aware this was erotica when I picked it up for free and while those scenes are well-described, they take up a whole lot of the book. It’s cool that after fifty plus years that Dria and Rafe are still so turned on by each other that they have sex whenever and wherever possible (multiple times a day). And even though many guys are drawn to and turned on to Dria, she’s fully committed to Rafe. That’s a nice change from so many other Urban Fantasy series I’ve read. But a number of things bothered me and yet I can come up with a counter argument for each. Sex is encouraged in the guests to the point that Dria does something considered illegal in the vampire world; messing with their minds, adding thoughts and pictures of others in attendance, guaranteed to turn them on. It is with the intention that they have a good time, but that feels a lot like mind rape. The human employees are paid a really hefty salary and many of them are available as both blood donors and for sex. Makes them sound like prostitutes. And yet none of these employees do this unless they want to and it seems every one of them enjoys it. When ready, they ask to be added to the resort’s list of donors; but they don’t have to. There is an observation room with monitors showing what’s happening in each room. Ewww. And yet they use it whenever an employee donates blood or has sex with a vampire for the first time to make sure they’re okay. And each of these employees wears a bracelet with a panic button on it in case things aren’t going well. So it’s obvious that the welfare of the employees is really important. I did like the mystery although that took a while to get going. And I’m intrigued with this author’s vampire culture and her place in it. It seems obvious that the governing body will play a larger role in future books. I am torn on what I think of Dria. The enjoyment and safety of both her guests and employees is important to her and I do like her philosophy on not tying others to her as servants. But that mind rape thing really bothers me. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Meet Vivian. She's a 580-year-old vampire who exudes sex, has a talent for drama, and is passionate about two things: her human husband, Rafe, and their resort for the undead. Her ability to project physical illusions has created the perfect vacation spot-a dark, isolated Alaskan hideaway where visitors can have their wildest fantasies come true. Vivian knows the best performance requires perfect timing, but the powerful vamp is put to the test when she discovers a corpse in a locked guestroom minutes before the next arrivals. Always cool-headed, Rafe hides the body, convinced he and Vivian can find the culprit without disturbing their guests. Juggling the increasingly outrageous demands of their customers while tracking a killer isn't easy. Will their poking and prodding give them the answers they need, or will it uncover secrets Vivian would kill to protect? Warning: This book contains some explicit sex scenes, intended for mature readers only. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
