The story of a very unusual girl with a usual purpose. First, and the most important thing, I enjoyed the novel very much. I met many likable and interesting characters and traveled with them through the book's world. the story is well-written, I had no problem with knowing who says what in the book (kindest regards to the reviewer who reviewed wrong book I guess;)). There were some things that were unique, I have never seen them in any book I have read (haven't read so many but still) like walking in "shadow".

Now why my rating is missing a star.. The plot wasn't perfect, actually somewhat predictable (apart from one or two moments/turning points that were very surprising and amazing) and I got the impression that most things went too smooth. As for the powers, I know that she is the main protagonist but she seemed a lot overpowered to me. The fire and shadow things were great and necessary, but the rest (although nice and handy) seemed to be off.

All in all,
even if it isn't the best of a kind, the book is very enjoyable and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to most of fantasy lovers.

P.S. What is the matter with the author reviewing her own book in a way that seems "a bit" vein? Seriously, there really is a thick line between encouraging readers to buy a book and evaluating it with the highest possible scores themselves, like all the other authors are doing it wrong. Please, have some modesty and let the critics and readers evaluate themselves (I'm glad you removed the comment from here, now goodreads time;)).

P.P.S. Can't wait for the next part of the series:) ( )

I really couldn't disagree more with the person who gave this book half a star! The characters are well rounded and I didn't have a problem figuring out which character was speaking.

Anyway, the only thing I might change about it is that there wasn't much description in the dwarven mountains. A. M. should have let us get to know them.

I LOVED the bard and Crimson was one tough woman but we still got to see her softer/weak side. This was a great fantasy about a woman who finally finds herself physically and emotionally after years of wondering who she really was.

Bottom line: This book was hot! ( )

That was bad, very very bad. I struggled half way through before I gave up.
The characters are flat and almost stereotyped - no personality what so ever. The dialogue is stilted and it is difficult to tell who is talking. There is a plot but it is also stereotyped and sloppily constructed. World building? None.
The overall writing is shaky and missing too many details (ie. who is talking ???) to even bother finishing this.
A classic example of bad Fantasy. ( )
