A trifle disappointing, in some ways - it's a good story, but as the finale of the entire Redstone series there's not much to it. And besides, it's the last Redstone book - wahhh! The romance is a matter of making the two of them admit what everyone around them has known for literally years, in the context of an amazingly stupid - but no less dangerous for that - attempt to take Josh hostage. The thugs are unbelievably ill-informed, not to mention sexist and prejudiced. I figured out two-thirds of who was behind the whole thing long before we were told - didn't know about the woman, she isn't much mentioned until she's speaking for herself. The comedy act of Tess the flight attendant and 'Michael' the mechanic is amazing - flirting with danger all the way. The gadgets the Redstone security team has aboard the plane are - well, they'd be amazing except they're what I expect Redstone to have available. It's funny how the author brings in the heroes (male and female) of all (most of?) the previous books, including those who don't really have much function in this situation - but she finds excuses for each. Grace knows airports... The whole thing would be very funny if there weren't so many guns being waved around, in some cases by people who don't really know how to handle them. And then the final, rather conventional, crisis - it takes someone being wounded to get past their habit of 'this can't be', despite the kisses. And then the explanation of who was behind it all - the actor, the driver, and the power in the shadows. But, but, but...the series is over. Doesn't Josh get to smash the bad guy? Hmmph. And we get another new Redstone employee, but his story won't be told...she can't end the series yet, there's too many stories still to be told. Wahhh! It's hard to think about the story by itself - I'm too busy thinking about how it's the _last_ Redstone. It doesn't really close an arc - actually, the St. John story felt more like a major change - Redstone continues, we just won't see any more of it. I hope she can't quit, that some more Redstone stories show up a few years down the line. But it's been a great run, anyway. And a good story to end it with, since it has to end. Redstone, Inc., pilot Tess Machado is awaiting her boss when two armed men muscle their way onto her plane in the middle of the California wilderness. It's Josh Redstone--of the Redstone empire--they want. But Tess isn't giving up the man she secretly loves--not without a fight. Josh always knew this day would come. Being the head of Redstone put a giant target on his back. The kidnappers on board the Hawk V are armed and dangerous, but they're forgetting one glaring detail. No one--no one--puts his Tess in harm's way and gets away with it. Will Tess and Josh admit what's been so obvious to others...before they're silenced forever?
