This books is about a dog whose owner passed away from old age, and then the dog ran away. He turned into a stray dog who no one likes until a boy comes along and starts to feed him, and slowly the dog turns into this boys new best friend.

In this book a dog loses his companion when his elderly owner passes away. The young boy in the book often sees the dog roaming the neighborhood. The dog is avoiding getting captured by the pound. Finally, after many attempts, the dog comes near the boy. Eventually the relationship between the young boy and dog gets stronger. Now they have developed a relationship. One as strong as the elderly man in the blue house had with the dog. I would read this to my students if one of them lost someone close to them. ( )
