Peeters provides Tintin fans with a book by book examination, a brief history of the life of Herge, and an interesting section chronicling lesser known works of the author/illustrator. The photos of Herge's developmental sketches, as well as real-life influences upon the books are fascinating. Peeters also provides valuable analysis into the creation of the books following a timeline of current events, both worldwide and those affecting Herge personally.
intin and the World of Herge is a good book to get if you're a Tintin fan. The layout is very nice, with a short biography of Herge, and sections on each of the adventures, with rare pictures, sketches and even excerpts from the early black and white versions.

However, this book does have some drawbacks. The commentary on the adventures themselves tends to be sketchy, and leaves something to be desired. Another thing that I also found annoying is the fact that all the excerpts from the Tintin books were in French, with no English translations. This is especially frustrating when looking at frames from the black and white versions, where I am unfamiliar with what the characters might be saying. ( )
