The 7th annual Kensington Day of the Book Festival will be held on Sunday, April 22, from 11am to 4pm on Howard Avenue in historic Old Town Kensington. This afternoon street festival celebrates the International Day of the Book with over 100 local authors, poets, bookartists, small publishers, and literary groups set up along Howard Avenue to show and discuss their works. Featuring authors from the Mystery Writers of America, among many others. Visitors will enjoy listening to author and poetry readings, live music featuring the Nighthawks among others, a chess exhibition, rare book evaluations, a watercolor workshop, and more. Children’s activities include bookarts, storytelling, and a literary scavenger hunt. Discover the unique charm of Old Town Kensington and the literary talent of our area. All activities are free to all. Rain or shine. Co-sponsored by the Town of Kensington and the Pauli Bellet Foundation Catalan Library.

Activities for children and adults will include:

* Live Music by The Nighthawks, Hang-Over Royale with David Kitchen, Scotty Got Arrested, Doris Justis, 2nd Story Band, Steven Gellman, and others.
* Author and Poetry readings including authors from the Mystery Writers of American and Sisters in Crime.
* Young author readings
* Chess exhibit by International Chess Master and chess book author Allan Savage
* Free rare book evaluations by Dale Sorenson, founder of Waverly Book Auctions
* The Twinbrook Tellers tell tales of magic and adventure
* A Literary Scavenger Hunt for children of all ages
* Free books from Bookcrossing
* A Watercolor Workshop

Parking will be available in the neighborhood and a number of parking lots in the town.
Food will be available at established food venues and on the street.

Please stop by the festival this year if you have not in the past (or also if you have in the past). The festivities are free. In addition, I'll be in the Bookcrossing booth with fellow Bookcrossers giving away hundreds of free, gently-used books to fairgoers.
