Michael Scott didn't disappoint with this book nearing the end of Josh's and Sophie's adventure. In bringing everyone together with constant action, explanations galore, and releasing monsters, we wait with anticipation the final book in the series. At lot is at stake, actually, everything is at stake. Each twin has chosen their fate, but which of them will save everything and which of them is destined to destroy? Can't wait to find out! ( )

Great story. ( )

While there is less action and drama than Books 3 and 4, Book 5 is where the plot stews and the drama builds in intensity to prepare the reader to the climax of the final installation of this series. I built more insight into the characters and the nuanced drama. It also ended on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger. The Warlock is the Two Towers or Empire Strikes Back of the series if you will, in a good way. ( )

I enjoyed the series! Very interesting to see the different relationships and perspectives of the different characters. It makes you question how right and wrong really are relative based on experiences. ( )

Alcatraz.

I did not like the beginning of the latest installment of the twins of legend as the author expected you to know where things left of in the (weak) predecessor book. The twins remain separated as Sophie remains with the Flamels while Josh is off with John Dee and Virginia Dare, and many of their friends have travelled back in time to save the world. The battle intensifies as Josh seems lost to the bad guys and Sophie tries to help him. Good fantasy again. ( )

The ending was amazing, I did not see that coming! ( )

As with the previous four books in this series, a very fast, exciting read. It is always difficult to put these books down or keep from saying 'I'll read just one more chapter.' It is going to be torture waiting a year for The Enchantress to be published. ( )

2.5 OK for listening to while running errands, but the author is really dragging the series out w each succeeding book holding my interest less. Wrap it up already! ( )

I can’t believe this series is almost done, and yet, WOW! Be prepared for some intense reveals throughout this book, and definitely have The Enchantress ready to read after you finish it, because you’re going to want to read it right away.

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed the progression of The Secrets of the Immortal Nicolas Flamel. It gets better and better as it focuses more on the twins and their lives and goes away from Nicolas Flamel himself. In this book, we see so much more of Danu Talis, which was probably my favorite part of the whole book. I love how everything is coming together and all the parts are falling into place. While it still keeps up the action, not much actually happens in this book. It’s mostly the result of some plots falling into place while setting up for the finale, The Enchantress. With that said, this book is highly entertaining and I loved getting to know more about various characters. I’m also just so ready for Sophie and Josh to stop being estranged at this point. We’ll see if that happens, though.

It’s hard to say much of anything without ruining things. It’s fun and it’s still going strong. I would still highly recommend this series!

Great twist at the very end. I can't wait to see how that fits in with everything we've been told so far, without creating a plot hole. Speaking of which, in the first (second?) book, Scathach tells someone that she'd been told she would die in a desert - which is why she always lives on the coast. Every other book after that, she claims she was told she'd die in an "exotic location." Kinda annoying how they re-wrote history without going back and fixing it. The twist with Aunt Agnes was predictable and Josh is SUCH a cliche it's not even funny. Really glad I'm coming to the end of this series. ( )

It took me 1 year and 9 months to finally finished reading this 5th installment on this series. Don't get me wrong, I love the first four books but I just lost interest on this one due to the never ending chasing scenes. I was like, "Where's the jam-packed action?! Come on! Give it to us! Now!"

I put this book down and finish reading other books first. After several months, I've finally decided that it's time for me to face this book again and let's see if it will still grab my attention. At least I've tried to read it then but I thought it is still not the right time to read this again. So I've decided to just kept this while I go through several books.

Finally after several contemplation, I tried to read it again for the nth time. And yes! Thank goodness that I gave this book another chance because yes, I am really happy on those "jam-packed action scenes" that I was looking on the first part. I am really eager to finish reading this book series so as much as possible, I don't want to skip any more details.

This 5th installment isn't that bad unlike The Sorceress because the action scenes made up for those dragging scenes on the first part of the book. Not to mention that there was a huge surprise in the ending. I was really surprise and I bet all of us did. No, don't worry because I don't give spoilers on my reviews neither tell what are some of the details.

Hopefully the last book will be better than this. And hope to get more surprises even if it's the end already. ( )

3.25 ou 3.5? houve twist que não gostei muito, e achei este livro um bocado parado em relação aos anteriores, no entanto, abriu o apetite para o que aí vem. ( )

I'm wondering if these books are better listened to than read... I think the story is great, but the writing feels unnatural and a little juvenile to me. The pace of the dialogue is usually off, and I'm thinking that hearing it narrated might fix some of that--people add inflections and pauses that you don't get when you're just reading. It's too bad I didn't think of it before now, but maybe for book six I'll try it out.

Also, in re that huge cliffhanger at the end (for those who've read it)... I TOTALLY knew something like that was coming. :)

Quality of writing seems to have degenerated and the story is rambling with little character development. ( )

This book had a slow start, but everything came together for a slam bang finish. Can't wait to read the Enchantress! ( )
