Beneath the Zoo: A Short Story, my twenty-second read from author J.F. Penn, who has become one of my favorite authors. This short, 28-page continues the trend of well-written, enjoyable books, it caught my attention in the opening pages & I never put it down until completed. A J.F. Penn read is like a visit from an old friend. "I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more in this series & more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).… (plus d'informations)

Ark of Blood (ARKANE #3), my seventh read from author J.F. Penn, was captivating, with well-developed characters coupled with an outstanding suspense story-line with its intricately woven twists and turns. I'm a character reader, I get into what makes characters tick, who and what they are. Penn does a good job with her character development; you can like and/or hate these characters. I'll be reading more by this author as I get more of her books. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

End of Days (ARKANE #9), my fifth read from author J.F. Penn, is captivating, with well-developed characters coupled with an outstanding suspense story-line with its intricately woven twists and turns. I'm a character reader, I get into what makes characters tick, who and what they are. Penn does a good job with her character development; you can like and/or hate these characters. I was given an Audible copy of this book back in August of 2017, lost track of it, and am just now getting around to voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Narrator Veronica Giguere's narration adds to the book's enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).I'll be reading more by this author when I buy more of her books. Very typical thriller, very tropey and with pedestrian prose. Some of the dialogue was almost cliche-like in its predictability. That being said, the history was interesting, and I do enjoy an archaeological relic hunt. The story moved almost too fast, with very little emphasis on the mystery of the stones. The antagonists were barely sketched out. I always wonder why someone wants to destroy the world. And after a while the action felt repetitive, as the characters search for the individual Apostles' stones. Despite all my quibbles, i still kept reading. So there's that. Undecided whether I'll read another in this series.… (plus d'informations)
