Jay Van Everen (1875-1947) was an American painter and book illustrator, known for his abstract, modernist art. His work can be found at the Smithsonian, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He illustrated a number of books, mostly for children, including the early Newbery Honor Books, Nicholas: A Manhattan Christmas Story and The Truce of the Wolf and Other Tales of Old Italy.
