Traci and Sian, you have knocked it out of the park AGAIN! Just. Wow. I am seriously flabbergasted every time. How do two people write this and still make it so seamless? How do you come up with these villains and stories? I’m here for it. I am allllll the way here! I will cheer and shout from the rooftops and read every single book you decide to work on together (I’ll read all your solo books too, for the record, just in case there was a question).

Anyway, I adore Lars & Merit and Cole and Isabelle. I really enjoyed that this wasn’t a romance in the traditional sense of “will they/can they get together,” but more of how to make their relationships work with life throwing curve balls at them. I liked the relationship growth (is that a thing? Because it felt like a thing) between each couple. Lars and Merit are #RelationshipGoals and Cole is hilariously left-footed when it comes to a girlfriend! But yay for adult, mature conversations! Also love Thor. IYKYK.

The relationship between Cole and Lars is so much fun. Having grown up in a relatively tight-knit family, and getting on well with most of my cousins, seeing cousin-friendships is very special. I also love the friendship blossoming between Merit and Isabelle.

This one kept me on my toes the entire time I read. As soon as I would think there wasn’t a way out, or how could anything go wrong, you both pulled out all the stops I didn’t see coming, and made it happen. And I loved it!

This is a fabulous suspense novel, and the sprinkling of romance (with some really good kisses thrown in for good measure! Good work guys!) added the perfect touch. And now for the annoying question every author hates: when is the next one? 😉
All my love,
Jessica

**thanks to the authors and publishers for the copy. These are my own thoughts.

2024 Review:

The stage is set in this book full of intense moments and mystery, and sweet romance.
My heart hurt for Shaye and everything she went through. Witness Protection would be a really difficult life to live. But I loved the ways she grew, and how she pushed forward even while she was in the middle of the hard things.
The romance is so sweet in this one! Read it and tell me Matt doesn’t just melt you heart. The way he responds to her near the end when she has that one issue with her car? Yeah, I was sold. I was immediately rooting for both MCs to have their happy ending.
Speaking of the ending though, this ending is a doozy! Make sure to have book two lined up because you’re going to want it in your hands immediately!

CW/TW: murder and attempted murder; minor details about wounds or injuries; car bomb; being followed by someone who wants another dead; heavy religious themes, particularly represented is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

2021 Review:

I’ve recently become a fan of Traci Hunter Abramson’s books so when this one was recommended for a challenge I’m participating in, I was happy to read it.

For a minute when I was reading, I thought everything was going to wrap up a little too nicely in a bow and I wasn’t thrilled about that. But plot twist! Things don’t get wrapped up! You need another book…or two! Yeah, I didn’t know this was part of a trilogy when I started it. But I like how the suspense built toward the end and really pulled me in. Now there is even more mystery and intrigue and I’m excited there is more to the story.

I really liked Shaye and felt kind of bad for her with her situation. It was an utterly rotten situation, definitely unfair. So I thought it was understandable that she was hesitant and came across as standoffish to some. I think I would, too. I also liked Matt and his family. Senator Whitmore and his family are some of my favorites in the Guardian series so it was fun that they’re in this series, too (which appears to be a prequel series to the Guardian series, actually). I liked that Matt was generally understanding and open to listening to Shaye, even when she caught him off guard and made things hard for him for a little bit. He’s a good character.

I look forward to reading the other books in this series!

*Note: this is a romance with heavy LDS cultural references interwoven throughout. If you’re unfamiliar with the LDS church or the jargon members of that church use, there will probably be some confusion at some parts. Nothing that would negate from the overall story, but just some things to be aware that could cause confusion. Also mentions drug dealing, shooting and killing, death, and witness protection.

The wild ride continues in book 2! Kylie’s life has been turned upside down—again—and has to try to fit in with a new swim team. Sparks start to fly when her old love—whom she never got to say goodbye to when everything upended—serendipitously shows up at church. Will she be able to make her Olympic dreams a reality? More importantly, will she be able to stay with the man she loves this time?
Doug and Jill were such a fun addition to this book. I love those two!
The intensity ramped up in this book, and I was completely hooked from the very beginning. I didn’t want to put it down. With a villain you love to hate, and a love story you desperately want to work out, this book kept me on the edge of my seat from page one to The End. It’s another wild ending, but will also leave you with a smile on your face.

The book was the perfect culmination of books 1 and 2. If I thought I was on the edge of my seat before, those books had nothing on this one! It was a riveting, nail-biting intensity I lost sleep over—and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
CJ has grown so much and become a pillar of strength. She keeps pushing through every difficulty and by this book, has really become an incredible character. Every setback had me grinding my teeth, because I just wanted her to catch a break!
This book provides the perfect ending I had been waiting for since book one. I was so happy with how everything worked.
This series is a must read for all fans of romantic suspense!
I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire series.
The villain is someone you love to hate (and the plot thickens every book). The heroine grows so much over the three books, and you’ll want her to be your best friend. The male lead is swoony, but imperfect, and goes through a lot of his own growth.
These books absolutely DO need to be read in order, but each one is a quick read.
I couldn’t get enough and honestly want to start the series over again right now. These are on my reread list for sure.
I absolutely loved it!
Slam dunk, Traci!
