This encyclopaedia is touted as the student version of the World Book adult set, and as being good for primary grades because it includes many visuals and mostly half page articles with a lot of white space making accessing the articles easier for younger users. The books include colour coded backgrounds: blue for countries, green for US states, purple for Canadian provinces, red for Australian territories and yellow for special features as well as phonetic spellings of difficult words, cross-references and related references and includes entries on “people, places, things, events and ideas,” (p. 4). This volume contains special features on animals, Antarctica and architecture. Although it is publicized as a resource for primary grades, the words used and the typical alphabetical layout may make accessing this resource difficult for early readers. ( )
