Again, Morrison has some good bits here and there but this largely feels like rehashes of stuff we've either seen a million times (Starro, although the dream angle with an appearance by Daniel/Dream is a nice touch) or stuff that will be rehashed in a better form later (the fifth dimension "genies"). ( )

I felt like this one was just ok. A couple of fun stories but nothing stands out as being really good. It's a bit hum-drum which is not my typical reaction to Morrison's writing. ( )

JLA Vol.3 collects issues #18 to 31 showcasing Adam Strange, The Sandman (once known as Daniel), The Star Conquerer, Amazo and much more. Not quite as out there as Morrison's later writings but instead showing more unused potential in characters like The Shaggy Man or the 1962 Aquaman character: Qwsp (formerly Quisp, not related to the cereal that came out three years later).

The art by Porter and Dell is done well and very kinetic but alas there are fill-in artists here and there such as for the Adam Strange story where I can only assume the penciller got the job by drawing Timmy The Turtle from an art school ad submission somewhere.

Still, recommended. ( )
