"Hewitt Anderson's Great Big Life" is a fantastic multicultural fairytale. The authors used of African American character makes this book relatable to many children who do not usually see themselves in classic fairytales. Even more the message of the story-everyone is special not matter how they look-is very powerful. This book is an easy read with wonderful illustrations that depict characters that everyone can relate to. ( ) This picture book is about Hewitt Anderson, a miniature child, who hd giants for parents. They worried about his size so much that they had to call for professional help. They tried to teach him survival skills, but in turn, Hewitt could take care of himself. He performed his biggest heroic act of all, and his parents finally decided that Hewitt could take care of himself--big or small. The illustrations in this book are absolutely beautiful and the story has a wonderful message about acceptance. Even though Hewitt is small, he is never held back by his size in a giant world. This book would be a great addition to a unit on tall tales or an SEL unit about accepting our differences. Inspired by Jack and the beanstalk, Hewitt learns how to live life when his parents are giants. Throughout this thought provoking book. One learns that finding acceptance isn't that hard. You just have to be open to it. A creative book with beautiful pictures. I feel like this could be a timeless book. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
