Living the Dream by Hakeem Olajuwon is an autobiography about Hakeem Olajuwon’s journey to America. When Hakeem was living in Nigeria, he never would have guessed that he would have experienced as much success in sports as he did. After only playing basketball for nine months, a scout from the University of Houston saw him and brought him to America. He played basketball in college for three years and made it to the College Basketball Championship game two of his three years at the University of Houston, but lost both times. After college, he declared his way into the NBA draft where he was chosen with the number one pick by the Houston Rockets. In the NBA he started with very little success, but slowly started gaining awards and began to get better every single year. In his years in the NBA, Hakeem earned several awards such as Defensive Player of the Year, NBA regular season MVP, and NBA finals MVP twice. The Houston Rockets won the NBA championship two years that Hakeem was there. If you would have asked Hakeem ten years ago that this happened he would have told you that you’re crazy. If you check out the cover of his book, you will see an action shot of Hakeem shooting a free throw making the cover very appealing. I would recommend this book to any fan of sports to learn the struggle Hakeem had to go through to gain all the success he had. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Born in Nigeria, Olajuwon didn't step onto a basketball court until the age of 17. Within a year he was a Nigerian international. Here he recounts his journey to America and university in Houston, his success in the NBA since turning professional in 1984, and his return to the Muslim faith. In a sport known for producing arrogant professional athletes, Olajuwon is regarded as a rare phenomenon - a sporting gentleman. Aware of his position as a role model, he wants to pass on his story of success as an inspiration to others. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
