A cute book to introduce a child to the idea of adding another baby to the family. Easy enough for young readers and the illustrations are great for pre readers. Even though this story is pretty short, there’s a clear plot. The brother is preparing himself for the idea of a baby and all the jobs his baby sibling may be able to grow up and explore. I particularly loved the mother’s expressions as the story progressed and her belly became bigger. The mother sits down with her toddle son to explain that they will be having a baby soon, he will have a baby sister. The mother answers all the questions that the little boy has, and helps prepare him for the entrance of the new baby to the family. In the end the boy is excited to meet the baby, and excited to love the baby. ages 3-5 Pierce County library There's Going To Be A Baby is a book about a young boy who finds out his parents are expecting a new baby and he imagines all of the things the baby will do as he accepts this new change. This story has a nice way of showing the boy in the book (he isn't given a name) and the readers that having a new brother or sister is not a bad thing, and can be fun. This is a nice book for children who are about to get a new sibling and could help them see all of the possibilities of a new addition to their family. The illustrations in There's Going To Be A Baby are very expressive, colorful, and fun to look at. You can really follow the story right along with the pictures. I think young readers will get a kick out of the different scenarios our narrator imagines the baby getting into, they are humorous and silly. I think overall, this was a good read and could be enjoyed by a class. I wish I had read this book before my younger brother was born, I did not like him at first. Of course that changed quickly, but I believe a book like this would have helped. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Warning - one page with bathtub scene revealing little boys privates.
Illustrations do not portray the father of children being present. Could be a great a talking point for dads in the military or who travel for work.
