This book is about a girl who has grown up in the forest called Saskatchewan to which she has grown to love. She discovers that she will be moving from the forest to the city and she is sad. The narrators teacher encourages her to draw her surroundings to take with her after she is gone so she will have something to reflect back on. This book displays moving on and growing in new environments and being able to express oneself through illustration. ( ) I thought that this book is good for children who are moving away, it can help children learn that the move can be an exciting thing and not a scary thing. Though the book goes on how the little girl is going to miss certain aspects of her old home, she can explore her new home and make certain aspects new aspects she loves. I Know Here is a great book for children whose parents may be moving because even though it may be a new experience for the child, they do not have to erase the memories that they have created. Having moved a lot personally, I enjoyed reading this book because I often thought that I had to leave everything each time I moved. I eventually moved enough times and realized that I don't have to take everything with me, just pieces that I know I want to hold onto. The girl decides to draw and take the scents of her surroundings with her, I decide to take something that I know I will hold onto and I will appreciate for years to come. Even if children aren't moving, it can be used as an introduction to an activity that promotes critical thinking and reflection. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
