Literary nonsense turns to whimsical imagery with a macabre twist in the pen-and-ink drawings of Jamison Odone. Stick figures have never emoted this much energy as each page brings a certain curiosity to a new light in this deconstruction of Lewis Carroll's classic. Starkly black and white, these stick characters are as much a quandary as their literary, cartoon and theatre counterparts ever were. Omitting much of the melodic verbiage of the original,Stickfiguratively Speakingcreates a simple variation with an exquisitely sophisticated twist that's already being compared to Edward Gorey. "Stickfiguratively Speakingis a way that I take stories that I love and adapt them in a visually simple way that is truthfully not all that simple," says Odone. "I view each of these books as an individual project in storytelling, design, and picture making.… (plus d'informations)

This was a different twist to a classic tale. The stick figures brought a modern edge to the origanial story. The story itself was shortened. ( )

Cute, quirky, and refreshingly original. I love all things Alice, and this book was a welcome addition to my collection. Being a big fan of little stick drawings myself, it was nice to see their simplicy brought to life in this tale. The retelling is much more simple than the original, but fun and true to the original plot. I'm definitely hoping for more Stickfiguratively Speaking books to come out! ( )

This is a wonderful retelling of Dodgson's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland told in none other the stick figures. Odone has done a phenomenal job retelling the story in a way that is fun for both children and adults. Odone has the ability to convey the story in not only words but also in art. If you haven't picked this one up yet we highly recommend you do.

Had a mom come up to me who purchased this book for her daughter and said the following, "My daughter loves this. Every time we get in the car and go somewhere she has to bring it along. She reads it over and over and over again." I'm not making this stuff up. Jamison great job and we look forward to your next book. ( )

Once you pick up this charming read, you won't be able to put it down. It takes the wonder of the land explored by Alice, and twists it just a bit more all with the most imaginative stick figure drawings you could have dreamed of. This isn't your everyday known Alice, but it certainly will entertain even the most "mad" among us with its witty words and perfectly matched pictorials. Venture down the rabbit hole and see what new things you discover! Happy reading! ( )
