Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. If you're a fan of urban fantasy, murder mysteries and tough broads, this may be the book for you. I have to say that I really did enjoy it -- it sucked me right in in a way that a lot of urban fantasy really doesn't, and I ended up reading it in an evening. There was a lot of suspension of disbelief involved, though; every man looked like he was out of GQ and wanted the leading character, and every woman was mind-blowingly beautiful (and usually also wanted the leading character). People waltzed in just at the right (or wrong) time, and in ways that were totally unlikely (a series of friends who walk into a trap? really?). This is not to say that Frost Moon was a bad book. Hardly -- it was fun and creative, an awful lot like cotton candy -- melts in your mouth fast, doesn't have an awful lot of substance, but is pretty darned yummy. Kudos to the author for including the victimization complex that happens after an attack. That was a bit of psychological realism that I often wonder at the lack of in many books. Finally, this book is eerily similar to Amazon Ink, by Lori Devoti. Same basic premise, same leading character, different magic system. Try this book or ..well, anything involving Anita Blake.. if you're looking for a similar tough-girl approach to the magical world. This book was a lot of fun. Fast-paced, with a wide variety of characters involved, and some tattoo magic I would love to try out myself. I kept reading about the dragon and wishing I could have the main character do one of the Loch Ness monster for me, diving in and out of the Loch while shifting from a definite animal shape to a piece of Celtic knotwork. I'm sure she could make it work. I did pick out the main villain rather quickly, but it's a rare plotline I can't figure out till the bitter end. It didn't really matter, since I still didn't see how the whole thing was going to work out. I thought the police procedures could use a little work too, but I'm pretty picky about that because of a law enforcement background. I would recommend this to tattoo fans, and to lovers of taut urban fantasy. Definitely another side than what I've seen of Atlanta. Now, then, my next step is to get my hands on the next one. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

In an alternate Atlanta where magic is practiced openly, where witches sip coffee at local cafes, shapeshifters party at urban clubs, vampires rule the southern night like gangsters, and mysterious creatures command dark caverns beneath the city, Dakota Frost's talents are coveted by all. She's the best magical tattooist in the southeast, a Skindancer, able to bring her amazing tats to life. When a serial killer begins stalking Atlanta's tattooed elite, the police and the Feds seek Dakota's help. Can she find the killer on the dark fringe of the city's Edgeworld? Among its powerful outcasts and tortured loners, what kind of enemies and allies will she attract? Will they see her as an invader, as a seducer, as an unexpected champion ... or as delicious prey? Kindle Hightlights:
I loved this book and really, really hope the author keeps it up.
Kindle Highlights:
“We’re all one big happy vampire family, respecting each other’s beliefs, and even managing to pretend Doug’s whing-whang isn’t hanging out.
Note: ROLF!
“It’s not just hazardous. Death by Vespa would be downright embarrassing.”
Note: Snicker
And her bloody mouth was sewn shut with silver
Note: Note: This dude is seriously psycho!
The Dragon, on the other hand, my masterwork . . . will take more time.
Note: Better keep your promise Mr. Francis! ( )
