World Book Kids is an easy site to navigate and although most buttons have pictures students still need to be fairly proficient readers to help them navigate the site. Articles are well written and appropriate for elementary. Technical terminology and challenging vocabulary is generally explained. Most topics are covered however the list of resources under each topic is not extensive. They do have multimedia offerings including a featured video on the start page. There is also a quick search and an advanced search feature to help find a topic. Navigation through the site is not as easy as it could be as they do not have “breadcrumb trail” system. The user would have to use the browser back button tool to navigate back to previous pages. This is a very useful resource that allows younger students and students learning English to find information that is tailored to them.
World Book Student is considerably more comprehensive including the complete World Book encyclopedia plus multimedia components. There is a quick search and advanced search tool which allows students to search just the Student section or Student plus Kids. Like the Kids version this version is very useful providing students with well researched and reviewed information. There have been times where students have had difficulty finding information on very specific topics but overall I have found it to have information on most everything I have needed. ( )

World Book Kids Online offers an easier version of World Book that many younger students would be able to read and understand. Including videos, many different interactive activities, maps and pictures, it enriches the learning environment for students. For those older students, there is also World Book Students which gives more details as well as information on how to cite references and do research. This is an excellent resource for students of all ages in a K - 8 school.
