For more than five decades Hope Bourne lived in wild and isolated places on Exmoor, walking many miles to explore its remote fastnesses and making notes and sketches of its wildlife and landscapes. A Moorland Year is a journal of her impressions, seen through a countryman¿s eye and recorded with a poet¿s ear, enhanced by the author¿s evocative line drawings of the Exmoor scene. A Moorland Year is a worthy successor to Hope Bourne¿s widely praised Living on Exmoor and Wild Harvest. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Hope Bourne was born in Oxford in 1918 but brought up at Hartland in North Devon. She lived on Exmoor for some 60 years, for two decades in a caravan at Ferny Ball near Withypool. Growing or shooting her own food, she earned her living as a writer, publishing four books in her lifetime as well as pamphlets and a regular newspaper column. In later years three television documentaries about her life brought her to the attention of an even wider public.
