A historic bed and breakfast, or a monument to evil and obscurity? Justin Collier didn't know the house's lurid, shocking history when he arrived for a relaxing stay. He knew nothing about the train tracks that run behind the house, or that they once led to a place worse than hell. But he's learning.… (plus d'informations)

What a journey this series is. Not going to lie, this installment made me cry multiple times.

If you've read all the books you're going to fall right into place with Alice's writing style, and the journey thus far of the Owen's Family. I adore how well everything tied together so well, from strands she left loose in each of the three previous books.

If you're coming from the movie Practical Magic, Alice does a really good job of summarizing the two prequals, and the events that took place in PM that did not happen in the movie.

There are multiple things happening within this story, a series is ending, characters are growing, and changing their roles in the family. It's an amazing journey. So many times I found myself yelling NOOOO don't do that, which is funny because as a teen I always Identified with Gillian more, and now I am more of Sally. All the family bounds, and sisterly love is felt deep throughout the book.

Talking too much about the plot will give a lot away, so instead I'm going to tell you that she continues her practice of writing in such a manner that makes you want to google her witchy remedies, and feel like you are part of the family of witches.

This book has the happiest of endings, I couldn't have dreamed a better series ending than Alice wrote, it's perfect. Seriously perfect.

If you aren't used to Alice's writing, she does a lot of storytelling through telling instead of showing, but it is never off putting like most unfavorable telling books are.

If you love any part of the Owen's, the books or the movie, you will adore this book. Even if you've never read or seen a bit of it, you will find this book welcoming you home into a long standing witch family with secrets, love, and an everlasting bond. ( )

Welcome to a place that will make Hell seem like a Disneyland vacation. I hadn't read an Edward Lee novel in several years. Not because I don't like them because with a 5 star rating...I obviously do...but my library has said that they are just very hard to come by...just like some other authors that I really like. I had forgotten how graphically descriptive some of his horror scenes are...although he has toned this one down from his earlier ones. Anyone who reads Chris Carter has dealt with some graphically awful murders and characters...well...Chris Carter is like Mother Goose compared to some of Edward Lee. If you don't have a very strong stomach and are prone to nightmares...by pass them. If you like horror at it's best...run..don't walk to your nearest library or bookstore. ( )

This was the first book I read by Lee that I've read. I read that he is one that pushes the envelope in his horror novels. Well, there are definitely many disturbing scenes including lots of sex, straight, gay, incest,S&M and scenes of violence, rape, torture, mutilations.

It wasn't very scary but it was extemely disturbing. ( )

wow. I am lost for words on this review. All i can say is if you have the stomach to read a few of these scenes which are definately something you wont see on tv then the story is a good read. ( )

This was an amazing book, very exciting and fast paced. Some of the scenes in the book was just down right gruesome. The book is very creepy and I would recommend it to any one that likes creepy books (Like me). You will not be disappointed with this one. Edward Lee is a really messed up man to even think of any of those scenes found in the book. This was a true ghost story.

The book is about a family called the Gast, there was two daughters, Penelope Gast and Mr. Gast. Mrs. Gast slept with every man but her husband. Mr. Gast was a very evil man. He killed his two daughters by burying them and then after they were dead he had them put in their room and eventually eaten by their dog, he has his wife raped nearly to death and then axed in the crotch, killed the The house slave, killed all the slaves he had, had innocent people burned and raped, and he had so much more stuff done, Mr. Gast was a very evil man. The family is said to haunt the house. Like I said, the book is extremely gruesome. Some of the scenes that was described in the book was the most horrible things that any one could ever imagine. I have always wanted to go to a haunted house or to see a ghost but the Gast house is one house I would never want to step foot in. The history of the house and knowing what happened in those rooms, would make the house scarier, but I guess that's make a haunted house a haunted house. ( )
