A Love Means... Story Len Parker is laid off during the recession in the early eighties and decides to go back to college at home in rural Michigan, where he reconnects with his best friend from high school, Ruby. He's overjoyed when she marries Cliff Laughton and overcome with sorrow when she dies an untimely death, leaving behind her husband and two-year-old son. Out of work again, Len finds a job at Cliff Laughton's sorely neglected farm. Cliff is still mourning his wife, struggling to raise his son, and has little enthusiasm or energy left for work. Len immediately begins to whip the farmâincluding the two Laughtonsâinto shape. Working side by side, Len and Cliff grow ever closer, but loving another man takes a lot of courage. They'll have to stand together as they face faltering business, threatening drought, misguided family, and Midwestern prejudices to protect what might be a lifelong love.…

Perché insisto a leggere i suoi romanzi?

I absolutely loved this prequel to the Farm (Love Means...) series. Even though I had a basic idea of what was going to happen having previously read the first two books in the series, that didn't stop me from hanging onto every page. The story of Cliff and Len is heartwarming and I think even more so having read about Geoff's life before going back to hear about the love story that started it all. ( )

I have to admit that this book made me nervous. As much as I love a good MM Romance, after reading about Geoff, I felt odd now reading about his PARENTS! I had to skip over some of the sex scenes because I felt like I was reading about my parents. LOL! I loved Cliff and Len. I knew from Love Means...No Shame how much they loved each other and it was great to see how they came together. Much like the first book, this writing seemed a bit disjointed to me and that threw me off a little bit. There were some spots where I would think something was described differently in the first book than here. The writing did distract me a little but overall, I continue to love the characters and want to know more about them. ( )

That’s great Grey, you just go right ahead and ripped my heart out the set it on fire. I don’t mind. I’ll just sit back and let you do it. Grr!!

Ok, I’m a hopeless romantic but also extremely practical. Whenever I know a couple is together, it always flashes a moment of sadness in my mind bc I feel for whichever of the two will have to say goodbye and keep surviving the other.

Knowing how they end didn’t pull away from the story though. It just made me appreciate how precious each would be.

(Yeah so I have a friend that swears Sadness from inside out was modelled after me. Reading my previous statement, she’s not far add.) ( )

I really loved this book. The focus is on the relationship between Len and Cliff (Geoff's father) and since this story takes place 25 years ago they have quite a few external obstacles to overcome.

At first Len and Cliff struggle to get up the courage to admit to themselves what they feel for each other but in the end the choice is very clear. The strength of their conviction is amazing and very reassuring. The small farm they live on is described in vivid detail and I felt right at home. Geoff as a young boy added yet more color.

If you liked 'Love Means...No Shame' you're bound to like this prequel! ( )
