Charles Malik is an outstanding Lebanese academic and senior United Nations diplomat. With degrees in mathematics and physics from Beirut, Malik studied philosophy under Heidegger at Freiberg and Whitehead at Harvard. Charter member of the United Nations and Chairman of the committee which wrote the International Declaration of Human Rights, Malik has held more senior posts at the UN than any other person, including President of the Security Council and of the General Assembly. He holds more than fifty honourary doctorates and fourteen gold medals from member countries of the UN.
