Third in the series, and the best one so far. I love it when a series gets better as you go. (

Toby Daye is an interesting character. If this were a romance novel, I'd almost call her TSTL because she spends all her time reacting instead of acting. She's even aware that her lack of planning is the reason she's always about-to-be-dead, but even when she decides to make a plan, the plan literally consists of "walk over there and do stuff". It's like the episode of South Park with the Underpants Gnomes.

As it regards Tybalt, I don't think Toby is dense so much as she is deluding herself. She's got inklings that she is refusing to acknowledge. That's cool, I like the long con. It's a little irritating now but I think the payoff will be worth it.

I'll keep reading these because Seanan McGuire has some cool stories, and I'm pretty sure Toby gets smarter (I'm hopeful, anyway). (

Toby is trying very hard to have a normal life, going to a friend's children's party. Only the children are all from the magical world and later they disappear; kidnapped for the Wild Hunt and Blind Michael is to blame. Also her Fetch has turned up, ready to witness her death. Chasing down Blind Michael is going to be problematic and one of the problems is that every time she goes she has to take a different path and her will may not survive the encounter with an old one.
This series just keeps giving. (
