About three things I was absolutely certain. First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe. Second, there was a vampire part of him–which I assumed was wildly out of his control–that wanted me dead. And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me. And thus Belle Goose falls in love with the mysterious and sparkly Edwart Mullen in the Harvard Lampoon’s hilarious send-up of Twilight. Pale and klutzy, Belle arrives in Switchblade, Oregon looking for adventure, or at least an undead classmate. She soon discovers Edwart, a super-hot computer nerd with zero interest in girls. After witnessing a number of strange events–Edwart leaves his tater tots untouched at lunch! Edwart saves her from a flying snowball!–Belle has a dramatic revelation: Edwart is a vampire. But how can she convince Edwart to bite her and transform her into his eternal bride, especially when he seems to find girls so repulsive? Complete with romance, danger, insufficient parental guardianship, creepy stalker-like behavior, and a vampire prom, Nightlight is the uproarious tale of a vampire-obsessed girl, looking for love in all the wrong places.… (plus d'informations)

Prelim Review: When originally this came out I remember being excited for it because quite frankly TWILIGHT made my head hurt. Let me make it clear, the first time I read TWILIGHT I enjoyed it. Had issues with Bella, but figured stuff would work out by the time the next book came out. NEW MOON cured me of that notion and I was in it to see where it was all going to go. ECLIPSE had my rage growing quite a bit, but at that point I was in the fandom with some friends so I decided to stick it out. And then BREAKING DAWN. I finished that book and just didn't know what to do so I re-read the series thinking that would help. It didn't.

So a parody of that series sounded great. And as a parody it works pretty well; it tries a bit too hard and Belle was possibly even MORE annoying then Bella--I really hate arrogant, insufferable idiots--but I thought it was enjoyable.

It was a quick, funny read. I laughed out loud at some parts. Nothing to go crazy over, but it was silly. ( )

Well, that was a fun little thing...not David Sedaris funny or Terry Pratchett funny, but it still made me giggle and was worth the few hours it took to read it. ( )

Nightlight follows the story of Belle Goose who begins to live at her father's place after staying with her mother until her middle grade years. Like Twilight, she is the new girl. She then meets Edwart the vampire at the school cafeteria. The story goes on.....

This parody is not as bad as The Hunger Pains. I read the original versions of both book series. (My next read will be Bored of the Rings; I couldn't continue reading after Chapter 2 of The Lord of the Rings, so I'm hoping that not having prior knowledge to the original content will help me endure reading the parody's writing style..)

This is the worst novel I have read. I don't know why I wasted the time reading it. ( )
