The author writes a very well written story, with very real characters, but her story lines can be very dark and disturbing. This story is about a family who most would say outwardly, had it all together. But Sadie is a battered wife, by a husband who acts like his wife is the one with problems. She is trying to raise 4 little ones, keep the house spotless and dinner on the table when Troy arrives home. When a little girl goes missing Sadie will reach out to the Mom and from thereon, her life will start to change. Slowly, she begins to wonder if her husband could be involved in this missing child. Yet another lady will reach out to Sadie and share her life and help Sadie realize that leaving her husband under certain conditions is NOT wrong. Things will come to a dramatic conclusion near the end. I appreciated how this author handled this whole situation. It was a difficult subject to address and I thought she did a good job of showing the seriousness of this situation and the way we can misinterpret things sometimes. There is not always happily ever after endings in life and this story points that out. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Linda Hall's thrilling fiction, which confronts the toll domestic violence takes within American homes and explores how the church might address it, melds contemporary characters with a powerful story's punch. Sadie's Song opens with the disappearance of nine-year-old Ally Buckley, which bears too much resemblance to two recent and chilling events. As fear spreads throughout the New England fishing village of Bowden's Landing and the local church that Sadie and her family attend, she discovers a drawing by Ally among her abusive husband's possessions-and odd evidence that danger may be closer to home than she'd ever known.
