Var loksins að lesa núna fyrstu bók Arnaldar um Erlend og félaga. Virkilega gaman að sjá hvernig stíll hans hefur þroskast og mótast síðan þá.
Í þessari sögu eru Erlendur og Sigurður Óli í hliðarhlutverki á meðan sagan hverfist einnig um bróður manns sem fremur sjálfsmorð. Bróðirinn fer að grafast fyrir um líf bróður síns og hluti í fortíðinni um leið og Erlendur hefur einnig rannsókn á morði sem gerist á sama tíma og finnur tengingar á milli þessara tveggja mála.
Í raun er þetta frásögn tveggja ólíkra rannsókna sem skarast, durturinn Erlendur er skýrt afmarkaður en í heild líður sagan aðeins fyrir hve margar aðalpersónur bera söguþráðinn áfram. ( )

Read this book many years ago. Liked it, , as much as I liked other books by this author. Because I intended write a review, I kept it a long time and wanted to re-read this book. But now this has to do: I liked the book, the setting was great (Iceland is still a country high on my wishlist) and the main characters are likeable as well :-) ( )

What I appreciate about Indriðason 's books is that they are not only exciting, but always challenging one topic that deals with the world.
This is the first volume from the Kriminalpolis Erlendur Sveinsson series. As always, I do not read series in a row, so it's not the first book for me from this series. With recent murders and deaths, the Reykjavik police must deal with something that is in the past. It is about experiments on people in particular to adolescent boys who had no idea that they had to serve as experimental rabbits. Their psyche changed with a drug that they received regularly from their teacher. Many ended up suicide or went to a lunatic asylum. Through these experiments and their blood tests, a malicious scientist and entrepreneur began to clone these guys.
The book is captivating from the first to the last page. ( )

Ik begrijp eerlijk gezegd die bewondering voor Indridason niet, en al helemaal niet waar die zijn stijl betreft. In de vertaling althans vond ik het boek grotendeels geschreven als een eerste schoolopstel: en toen en toen en toen, korte hokkende zinnen. En de plot vond ik wel zo zeldzaam vergezocht met (al dan niet echt) BLO-kinderen op wie geexperimenteerd werd door boze medicijnfabrikanten die eigenlijk het levenselixir aan het uitvinden zijn), dat ik niet snap dat iemand dit bedenkt, laat staan gelooft. Ja, de hoofdrolspelers zijn alweer onaangename, ongezellige, ongelukkige mannen, maar andere Skandinavische detectiveschrijvers met deze mannen, zoals Mankell, vind ik stukken beter. ( )
