Even this reviewer reconsidered her career choice while reading this book. The handbook covers all facets of the fashion industry including designers, editors, stylists, models, makeup artists, and photographers each with its own chapter. Each area of interest also has a toolkit for aspiring professional in fashion. For example, the “essential items of the pros” for an editor include a recorder for interviews, passport, a brightly colored suitcase for easy spotting at baggage claim, and face powder for a polished look all day. Many of the people highlighted are tops in the field, well known, and work for Vogue and some are up-and-comers. Sprinkled throughout the book are bold-faced, yellow-highlighted helpful tips for teens to consider in planning their careers. The appendix includes a list and description of top design schools, a glossary of words in the fashion biz, a “talking the talk” guide, and an index. ( )
