The son of a vampire family reveals to his grandfather how awful his neighbors, the Wolfsons, are. The humor is in the illustrations, so you would need a pretty sophisticated group of 1st or 2nd graders to get it. It's probably best for 1 on 1 story times than for a large group. Definitely a funny book. ( )

Dear Vampa is a cute little story about neighbors who appear very different but they have more in common than they think. The illustrations are very eye catching and spooky my daughter loved to look at the pictures while riding in the car. This book could be used to help teach children to not to judge a book by its cover and take the time to get to know a person before you decide you do not like them. ( )

Dear Vampa is about a young Vampire who writes a letter to his grandpa about his pest of neighbors. While Bram’s family likes to sleep during the day, the Wolfsons stay up all day long. They have a “bizarre fondness of sunshine,” unpleasant pets, and an “awful lot of weird stuff.” The Pires tell Vampa that they are going back to Transylvania and staying with him for a while. Ironically, as the Wolfsons are watching them leave, they say it’s a pity they left because good neighbors are hard to find. This fun and quirky book would be an instant hit with students. The illustrations really show the humor in the story. The Piers are drawn in black and white, while anything to do with the Wolfsons is in color. Students will also learn that everyone is different and has their own interests, but you should not judge them. The Piers were vampires and the Wolfsons were werewolves, so students will instantly be able to tell why they were so different. This would be a great book to read to students for Halloween, while also leaving back a powerful message. ( )

Dear Vamp is a fun vivid book anyone will enjoy. It is a sarcastically funny story about how the Pires, a vampire family get new neighbors. The Pires thought everything the Wolfsons did was weird. For example, the Wolfsons stayed up all day long, went out in the sun, and even locked their windows a night. The Pires couldn't put up with them anymore, so they decided to move with Vampa to Transylvania. What the Pires didn't know was that the Wolfsons weren't that different from them because they were werewolves. I enjoyed reading this book it was very fun to read and it made me laugh. ( )

Having new neighbors move in can be an exciting time, and also absolutely terrible if those new neighbors are the complete opposite of your family. Little Bram is writing to his grandpa explaining just what a horrible time they are having getting used to the new people next door. They like sunlight, and flowers, and stay up all day long. The Pires have had it and decide to move back to Transylvania. If they had only waited a bit longer to discover just how much they really do have in common with the Wolfsons! Cleverly created illustrations with a fun twist at the end. ( )
