Old Children's Book. Liked it as a kid, but haven't read it in years. ( )
  odinblindeye | Apr 2, 2013 |
Going into ninth grade I know that I need to get good grades so that I have more colleges to look at, that Is why I have chosen to read an extra credit book. This book was recommended to me by my older cousin. He said the book was full of action and suspense. I knew at first I would like this book because my cousin and I are so alike, so I picked it up and started reading.
The boys in the book were my age so they were easy to relate to, there were two main characters that were very different. One lives in a city with lots of technology and the other lives in the middle of no were, so he has to make his own fun. I can relate to both of these boys in many ways. The city boy or Sam, likes soccer and video games I do both quite often. The country boy or Gary, loves fishing, one of my favorite activities.
There is one part of the book that I would change and that is when Sam constantly wanted to go home and be back to his normal life. I didn’t like this part because it really hurt the bond between Gary and Sam. It made situations awkward and it started their relationship off the wrong way. Yes, there does have to be some conflict in the story but I think the author could have showed it a different way. Maybe by the two boys getting in a small argument over something small, and later making it up to each other.
Lastly I liked this book because of the brilliant ending. Whenever I read a book it takes so much time to get through it. When you work reading a book then the ending isn’t good, it was all of that for nothing. This book had one of my favorite endings, the author must have really thought it out and I think that is the reason I liked this book so much.
The moral to this story is when you are in a desperate situation even if you don’t like someone, teamwork is required for success. The two boys in this book put their heads together and they were rewarded.
