I so loved all the previous Rutshire books but this one wasn't a patch on them. I soldiered on to the half way point (500 pages no less!) and just couldn't face the thought of the rest. If it hadn't been for the other poor reviews I would have thought I had simply outgrown Jilly Cooper's works but it seems I am not alone in my feelings. There's a massive cast of characters, all of which are fairly unlikable, an awful lot of underage sex and a story that just goes on and on. What a shame! ( ) A contemporary novel set in two schools, a private boys’ schoool and a comprehensive. There is underage sex between boys and adult women, including a teacher; paedophile teachers at the boys’ school; false allegations of sexual abuse of one of the boys; and a paedophile ring is uncovered by some of the teenagers. Listened to this on audio book, and struggled to finish - it was only that I was driving half way across the state that I managed to get to the end , so it gets half a star for that. Please someone tell me that this group of characters in no way resembles any existing group or class of people in England. Awful characters, awful dialogue, no plot, awful writing. My first and last Jilly Cooper - cant thing what the person who reviewed this in the paper was thinking to recommend it! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

At Bagley Hall, a notoriously wild, but increasingly academic, independent, crammed with the children of the famous, trouble is afoot. The ambitious and fatally attractive headmaster, Hengist Brett-Taylor, hatches a plan to share the facilities of his school with Larkminster Comprehensive - known locally, as 'Larks'. His reasons for doing so are purely financial, but he is encouraged by the opportunities the scheme gives him for frequent meetings with Janna Curtis, the dynamic new head of Larks, who has been drafted in to save what is a fast-sinking school from closure. Janna is young, pretty, enthusiastic and vastly brave - and she will do anything to rescue her demoralised, run-down and cash-strapped school. Neither parents nor staff of either school are too keen on this radical move, although some can see the possible financial advantages. For the students, however, it offers great opportunities to get up to even more mayhem than usual. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
