The VeggieTales brand has been around for more than 25 years now, and I have fond memories of watching the videos in college when they first came out. They were wholesome and funny at the same time, a trick that most religiously-oriented properties cannot manage. This book lacks the humor, and instead presents a pretty straightforward message of friendship in the context of Christianity. It's cute, vibrantly illustrated, and decently written. It just feels like it lacks the spirit of those early days, leaning more heavily on greeting card sentiment and prose. Good if your kids are already into VeggieTales, forgettable otherwise.

The Veggie Tales have done it again! With colorful illustrations of bloated fruits and vegetables and animated facial expressions, they teach kids life lessons such as sharing and taking turns, forgiving each other and what it takes to be a good friend.

Sweet rhyming book about being a friend. Great words to live by and teaching young children about manners and life with friends. Thank you for the opportunity to add this to our picture book collection for our School Library.

I have heard of Veggietales books for years but I had never read one until I read I Can Be Your Friend. Now I am definitely a fan. This book talks about friendship and how to be a good friend. The illustrations are so bright and colorful. I was surprised at how much I really like this book. I think my grandchildren will love it, and I can't wait to share it with them. The best part is the last page that reads: And no matter what happens, you can always depend on God, who's your all-the-time, very best friend. @worthykidsbooks

Using bright, fun and colorful Vegetable characters, this board book shares with young readers important concepts about friendship. I am sure children will enjoy looking at the illustrations, naming the different veggies, as well the colors and the various elements of the illustrations : parents and educators can also share concepts about weather, colors or numbers while sharing this cute story.
