Victoria Lang, born in 1949, is a portrait artist, a member of Portrait Society of Atlanta and Atlanta Artist Center, a BMI songwriter, and a lawyer. She channeled her artistic talents into this delightful fiction, depicting her heritage of being a direct descendant of United States freed-slaves who founded the Republic of Liberia, and tribal King Flamma of Rivercess, a historical figure whose name is embedded on official Liberian documents. She tells of two freed young black Americans venturing to the early Republic facing the odds of survival, hostile natives, and superstitious beliefs. Things get challenging as they face the unexpected.
