I really wanted to love this book, but it just wasn't for me. I can see how some people would love it. It was very well written. There was an almost poetic and lyrical vibe in the writing. The author clearly has a way with words, and can tell a great story.
I went into this book knowing it was a series of short stories, but I wasn't prepared for short vignettes with abrupt endings. My preference is to have complete stories with an HEA, or at least a HFN with the potential for HEA. The stories here did tend to end with HFN themes, but at times I was wondering how the heck it would even happen. My favorite story out of the bunch ended up being the longest story (Shark Bait), and it was about a shark shifter who catches the scent of a man. The story revolves around them connecting and growing very close, but I ended the story thinking there was so much more I needed to know. And that seemed to be the theme of the whole book. I got snippets and in some cases they reeled me into wanting more story, which I never got.
I left this book more frustrated than pleased. Like I said though, it was very well written. The author definitely has a way with words. ( )
