In this small board book, each page consists of one classic rhyme, like Humpty Dumpty or Little Miss Muffet, in either across the top or in the upper right corner, and Tomie DePaola's illustrations of the characters in the lower half. The pages are laid out in a simple manner. I liked this book for the illustrations and the writing. The illustrations enhance the story and follow along with the written text. Each page had multiple illustrations for the same story allowing readers and/or listeners to look at while reading. The illustrations also follow along with the written text by drawing an illustration for each paragraph of the story. For example "Once Simon made a great snowball, and brought it in to roast; he laid it down before the fire, and soon the ball was lost." The illustration shows exactly what is said, Simon bringing in a huge snowball and placing it in front of the fire place. The writing of the stories in the book are organized well. There isn't a lot of writing on each page, making it easier to read and not giving the reader anxiety. For example on page 30 in the book, there are only three paragraphs, containing one rhyme in each paragraph. The message of this book is to expose readers to the tales of Mother Goose. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
