i am the author of the book and daughter of Violette Szabo, GC, CdeG*. Many years of research. Double sourcing where possible. Recreation of her two extremely dangerous missions in April and June of 1944, her capture after a lone gunfight against an advance unit of Das Reich Panzer Division, interrogations, Ravensbruck and subcamps, execution under order from Himmler, Epilogue. At 4 1/2 I went to see the King (King George VI - the good King!) to receive on Violette's behalf the George Cross and at 7 from the French Ambassador Massigli the Croix de Guerre with Star awarded for gallentry and for killing at least one German corporal during the gun battle where she fought alone and injured. A tale or exemplary courage, tenacity, intelligent action, success in April '44, laughter and tears, love and friendship, hatred of tyranny and protection of family and her countries - France and England. 28 pp of images, 497 pp, bibliography, index, Intro by celebrated author Jack Higgins, another by team member of June mission - Jean Guiet and my acknowledges which also explains why and how and the reasons for my approach.
