Je viens de terminer l’insigne du chancelier, tome 1 des lames du roi de Dave Duncan. C’est un roman de cape et d’épées mettant en scène une confrérie de gardes du corps, épéistes extraordinaires, liés magiquement à leur pupille. Durandal, un des plus brillants, se retrouve lié à un nobliau arrogant. Il se morfond d’ennui mais, comme on peut s’y attendre, tout ne se déroulera pas comme prévu… L’auteur est un excellent conteur et on n’arrive pas à décrocher du livre. Très rythmé, de l’action et des rebondissements, un peu de romance et des intrigues politiques, bref un cocktail très réussi dans un univers original. Les deux tomes suivants sont sur ma liste ! ( )
Un cycle de fantasy que je recommande chaudement : très facile à lire, un scénario à la hauteur, très bien déroulé et surtout une thématique originale. Tout est là pour un moment intense : l’histoire va à 100 à l’heure et ne s’encombre pas de descriptions inutiles, fans de Zola ou Tolkien, passez votre chemin. Du cape et d’épées emprunt de surnaturel et de sorcellerie : l’ambiance est baroque et sombre, va cotoyer l’univers des Crépusculaires de Mathieu Gaborit tout en étant clairement estampillé « mousquetaires inside ». Une lecture fraîche et rafraîchissante. ( )

L’auteur est un excellent conteur et on n’arrive pas à décrocher du livre. Très rythmé, de l’action et des rebondissements, un peu de romance et des intrigues politiques, bref un cocktail très réussi dans un univers original. Les deux tomes suivants sont sur ma liste ! (
