I read a book with a similar premise that made this book pale in comparison. It wasn't horrible, but i was hoping to get more than i did. ( )

"I know I did explain it in the best way ... but you get the drift .... 3 out of 5 stars. If you've read other of Gena's books then you should know it's written like that of her "Lords of the Underworld" series, with two stories written around each other. I do like how she wrapped up everything though, good ending."

Can't help comparing this book to Kenyon's [b:Fantasy Lover|84136|Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, #0.5 Prequel)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255575870s/84136.jpg|2384]. And after reading that book this one falls short. The whole alien aspect threw me off big time. Probably because I wasn't expecting it to go that route at all. I also found the ending a little unsatisfying especially the way Julia went all "but how can I live without him!" on us. I'm all for letting the heroine mope, but not when she decides she can't function as a human being without her man. So, I enjoyed the premise of this book but a quite a few plot twists left me dry. ( )

Would have been three stars, a serviceable bit of romantic erotica, right up to the ending. Two gross things: 1) The hero is forced to abandon the heroine by magic, and she responds by lying in bed all day in his old clothes, moping, for a YEAR. Until he comes back to her. Then she abandons her old life without a blink to live with him on his alien planet. and 2) The villainess's punishment is to be made into a pleasure slave herself, locked in a box and given to one of the minor male characters. He is later described as "glowing." Ew.

So basically, a book about drooling over an incredibly hot guy that incidentally has to involve women for self-insertion reasons but the author clearly doesn't think much of them. ( )
