This book is great for introducing the topic of measurement to young children. Joan Sweeney highlights all of the many things that readers might see throughout their everyday lives that can and/or needs to be measured. Different types of measurement are discussed, such as weight and length. Also, Sweeney mentions various measuring tools, such as rulers and measuring cups. I think this book will teach readers how important measurement is and how it is a part of everyday life. ( )

"Me and the Measure of Things" is a sweet easy to read book that appeals to young children. The book follows a girl as she converts the amount of ingredients to make pancakes. Students learn the importance of measurement through the girl as she measures objects around the kitchen and school. I used this book in a math lesson I created about measuring. Students can measure objects with body parts and compare it to the actual measurement of things. ( )

Me and the Measure of Things is a story about measurement. We see in the book how a little girl does several things that need to be measured in order to do them correctly such as making pancakes. I really like the book because it gives clear examples of measurement throughout the story. One thing I dislike about the book is that it's only based on the customary system and children from other countries would not be able to relate since the rest of the world uses the metric system. This is a fun book that talks about measurement and weights of things. It is narrated by a small girl and she weighs and measures things in her daily life. It easily relates to children by using objects that they would use in their lives. ( )
