Through rhyming and repetition, we are able to follow along the journey of Joey, a young kangaroo who just wants to play! He stumbles upon many friends and he plays a new game each time...UNTIL... he comes across a crocodile who wants to play a game with all of his friends! ( ) Joey the kangaroo just wants to play on a hot summer day. He asks all of his friends and one by one they join him, each showing him a new game. Lastly, they ask an alligator to play and are tricked into going into his mouth. They work together to tickle the alligators tonsils to get him to laugh and let them go. This is a silly story that is sure to make children laugh, as well as teach them the importance of working together. Joey, a young kangaroo is bored and looking to play. He comes across many friends, a mouse, a snake, a platypus, and an echidna. With each of these friends he plays a new game. Finally, a crocodile asks all of the animals to play a game. The game is to go inside of his mouth, and once they do, "SNAP!" The animals are frightened inside of the croc's mouth and know they're goners until Joey announces that he has one more game to play. This game is to tickle the crocodile's tonsils. All of the animals pitch in until the croc cannot take it any longer and busts out into laughter. This way, all of the animals are freed and Joey goes home to his mother. I do not think this is the most wonderful book but it is cute and I like its rhyming text. I would read this story to a Kindergarten class during story-time and have them help me repeat some of the patterned words on every page and use prediction. There could potentially be an art project included with pasting the different animals into the crocodile's open mouth. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
