Fiction. Thriller. HTML:

Two years after his wife's death, oceanographer and former navy SEAL, Atticus Young, attempts to reconcile with his rebellious daughter, Giona, by taking her on the scuba dive of a lifetimeâ??swimming with a pod of peaceful humpback whales in the Gulf of Maine. But the beauty of the sea belies a terror from the deepâ??a horrific creature as immense as it is ancient. There is no blood, no scream, no fight. Giona is swallowed whole by the massive jaws. Only Atticus remains to suffer the shame of the survivor and his inconsolable grief turns to an unquenchable thirst for revenge.
Drawn by the spectacle, Trevor Manfred, a ruthless billionaire, approaches Atticus with a proposition: Trevor will make available all the advanced technology of his heavily armed mega-yacht, the Titan, to aid Atticus in his death-quest. In return, Trevor is to receive the beast's corpse as the ultimate hunting trophy. But in the midst of the hunt, Atticus makes a terrifying discovery that changes the way he sees the ocean's creatures and begs the question: What is Kronos? The answer sets him on a new and much more deadly course.
This updated edition has been re-edited, revised, repackaged and expanded, making this new edition of KRONOS superior to all that came before. Be sure to look for Robinson's early standalone novels, which have likewise been revised.

There are just some books that grab you from the first page and won't let go. Jeremy Robinson's "Kronos" is one of them. Sighting have been reported since the 1600's. It was the stuff that breeds myths. But Atticus Young finds that it not only is real but he discoverers a bond that goes beyond anything he ever imagined. ( )

This was a pretty straight ahead story that just didn't much catch my fancy. It tells of a father, Atticus Young, an oceanographer and (of course) former SEAL who watches his daughter get swallowed up by a sea monster during a dive. After being rescued by the Coast Guard (specifically, the woman who used to be his high school fling) and escaping the hospital, he's hell bent on revenge. Coincidentally, an eccentric billionaire with a superyacht containing pretty much everything, is waiting to whisk Atticus away so they can find and kill this sea monster together.

I was hoping for a Crighton-like techno-thriller, but didn't get it. I can suspend belief well enough, but a sea monster with Biblical ties was a bit much. I've seen that Jeremy Robinson has gotten good reviews, so I'll try another book, but if it's like this one, I won't be reading him any more. ( )

Kronos is a thriller of a ride about a Father and his love for his daughter and a "monster" or several "monsters" who attempt to take the daughter from the father. Atticus Young is an ex-Navy Seal oceanographer and Giona is his daughter who ends-up in the belly of a very large ocean predator. What follows is Atticus' attempt at revenge, that ends in a manner not expected. The characters are interesting and well defined, bad guys are badder, some good guys - not so good, and our Atticus is haunted. The emotions, motivations and actions of the characters was believable... and Kronos, well the "monster" remains wrapped in a mystery.... ( )

Competent thriller, incompetent science. I can forgive the author for the one scientific speculation crucial for his point, but he makes an unforgiveable amount of stupidnesses that any decent copy editor should have caught. In addition, the author seems to derive indecent amount of pleasure of describing firearms.
Anyway, decent entertainment. ( )

If I could give this book a 3.5 rating, I would. The writing is solid, and it was quite easy to get drawn into the book, seeing the scenes and characters in my minds eye with great ease. Unfortunately I found the ending to be really lacking, a literal deus ex machina just enveloping the end of the tail. ( )
