I bought this at a thrift shop bc I love the cover and the step-back. After about 40 pages it was obvious the book isn't going to work for me so I'm moving on. ( ) There are two kinds of vampires in the world, ones who are born and those that are made. The Hungarian vampires are born and rarely kill from those they feed from but they are still hunted by the Knights of the Dark Wood. Quill is one of the oldest Hungarian vampires and he'd rather live in peace but they won't let him. Callie's world changes the night Quill feed's from her and his memory wipe doesn't hold. Not only does she remember she finds herself pulled into his world and learns she's a witch. While these two dance around their connection, Quill is hunted and repeatedly attacked by the knights putting them both in danger. There are some very charming, heartfelt moments but the relationship progression felt stilted and wishy washy they often felt more like friends than romantic interests. It's a likeable book, with interesting characters, but I felt more connections with Ava and Quill than with Callie. I received an ARC copy and am voluntarily leaving a review. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/ I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. I chose to Enchant the Night by Amanda Ashley because I was in the mood for a dark and dirty romance between a Vampire and a Witch. That is not this book. This is something I’d never really thought existed, a sweet Christian vampire story. The steam level is quite low. The heroine spends a good part of the book worrying about her saving virginity, which she calls her greatest treasure for the right man. The author is telling not showing the story, and to me, it was a bit disjointed and fairly corny. Quill Falconer (a Hungarian Vampire who was born a vampire not made one) bites Callie Hathaway, who doesn’t know she’s a witch. He’s shocked when he can’t erase her memory, so decides he should kill her, but then some of the Knights of the Dark Wood attack him, and Callie saves him, so he spares her life and then realizes he knew her grandmother 100 years ago. I spent most of the books rolling my eyes and groaning at the plot twists unable to suspend disbelief enough to enjoy the book. Steam Level: They do have sex towards the end but it’s a thrust and done. Publishing Date: August 25, 2020. #EnchantThe Night #AmandaAshley #KensingtonBooks #ZebraRomance #bookstagram #VampireRomance #WitchRomance #ParanormalRomance The first thing that I need for you to do is find a violinist with the saddest piece of sheet music that he/she could possibly play. This will run through your head the entire time that you are reading Part One of this book. Okay, here we go. GIOVANNI OGBNIBENE aka GABRIEL finds toddler .......... SARA JAYNE DUNCAN (last name withheld although it is stated in the Prologue). Sara grows up and becomes a prima ballerina. (enter) MAURICE DELACROIX who just so happens to want to marry Sara but "you know him" does not support that idea. (enter) ANTONINA aka NINA who desires "you know him" therefore, wants to get rid of "you know her" Part Two. Now things are getting interesting (exit the violin music) (1995 enter) SARAH LYNN JOHNSON. She has just lost her spouse, daughter and parents. She spends her time sitting on a park bench when "you know him" is taking a walk through the park one night. He looks at her and finds that she reminds him of someone. She has memories and dreams about someone. QUILLAN is the oldest vampire that Gabriel knows. Gabriel wants something from Quillan. Quillan surprisingly shows up from France bringing with him (2) fledglings DELANO and SYDELLE. So the plot begins and ends. What decision will Sarah make? RECOMMENDATION. Part I - think of hearing a violinist play a sad sad song in the background while you are trying to read this book. Part I and Part II are not balanced. More time was spent writing about events during the Victorian era than was the Contemporary era. The book lacks humor. I give the book (2) stars. One star given for the fact that the author was able to cross from one time period to the other quite well. The second star because I found the book quite interesting in Part II. I only wish the author had chosen to make this a series by writing a second book to make Part II much longer. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Hungarian vampires are born, not made--and can breed with mortal females. Being one of the oldest of his kind, Quill Falconer has honed his skills at hunting just the right kind of prey, which is why his latest victim confounds him. She shouldn't remember his drinking her blood. And he shouldn't still be craving more...Callie Hathaway's life is as normal as it can be after the death of the beloved grandmother who raised her. Until one night, feeling foggy and fatigued, she realizes that a strangely sensual encounter with a dark, handsome man didn't occur only in her imagination. As Callie and Quill's unique connection draws them together, an ancient order of knights seeks Quill's destruction. Being together puts Callie in mortal danger--until she uncovers a magical family legacy. Side by side they'll fight for survival, and for each other, as the brotherhood of vampire hunters gather for one final showdown.-- Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
