This is book number 21 of the Kings Treasuries of Literature Series. It contains selected stories by Andersen including such favourites as The Mermaid, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, The Money Pig, The Snail and the Rose Bush, The Tinder Box and The Ugly Duckling. There are a series of questions and exercises referring to each story that teachers might use in a classroom to discuss Oral Composition, Written Composition, Reading and Research. The book ends with a very short bio of Hans Christian Andersen. My copy is in fairly good condition. I found that I couldn't read many of the stories without seeing Danny Kaye in my mind as he played the part of Andersen in the movie, a movie I enjoyed very much as a kid and later as a young adult playing it for my kids. This book has some stories by Hans Andersen, who is famous for people in the world. My favorite story is "The ugly duckling". The mother duck got some babies, but the only one was very ugly. So the mother duck hated him and the ugly duckling had no friends. He was very sad. But in fact, he was... I read some stories by Andersen meny times when I was a little child. So I remembered the feeling which I felt in childhood. But I thought that the stories are too fantastic to believe when I read now. This book has 5 Andersen's stories. The Ugly Duckling and The Little Mermaid are famous also in Japan. I've read these stories in the book except The Nightingale. I might read it, but I had forgot the story. I like Thumbelina. But I think she is too kind. She should have gone with the bird before the mole tried to marry her. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Classic / British English Hans Andersen wrote many stories, and these are some of the best. We meet a very, very small child, a bird with a beautiful voice, a mermaid with legs, an ugly duckling with no friends and an emperor with some very strange new clothes. These stories teach us lessons for life. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
