not my favourite of her books.

Anterograde amnesia means that the afflicted can no longer form new memories and cannot retain any new information for longer than a few minutes. Corporate Security officer Ian Kanan suffers from it and forensic psychiatrist Jo Beckett is determined to find out why. The “why” is the question that takes the reader on the chase. It is definitely for fans of the action genre because at times the plot and action take a turn towards the implausible and the story is plot driven rather than character driven. Part techno thriller and part medical thriller, with just enough twists, turns and romance thrown in the round it out into a good read. ( )

Another really good work by Gardiner. The premise was quite scary in a how could that really happen sort of way, zipping along at a frantic pace. While the ending wasn't by any means a happy one, it was logical character-wise and I'll give extra credit for having the nerve to end it that way but totally illogical otherwise. ( )

Starts off a little slow IMHO but then takes off to become a fast-paced read. The action and characters are believable although the plot is a little strange. The underyling premise seems to be what would you or could you do if you cannot recall anything past the last 5 minutes? Your past life is well remembered but everything after a certain point is life in 5-minute spurts that gets erased and then you start all over again. What would you or wouldn't you do to save your family? Well written and developed not to mention intriguing storylines. A great weekend read. ( )

I really enjoy Meg Gardiner's writing style and this book did not disappoint. I was a little worried at the beginning because I was not sure how annoying it would be to read about a man who was losing his short term memory. Gardiner wrote this story well because it was not annoying. She was successful in keeping the suspense up and not fixating too much to the memory loss issue...she actually made the memory loss fit into all the suspense.

Gardiner had many characters in this story but it was not confusing. The interaction between all the characters was well developed and fascinating. I found myself feeling sorry the guy with the memory loss and how frustrating that must have been for him. This goes to the strength of Gardiner's character development.

I will definitely read the next Meg Gardiner book that comes out. She has never disappointed me. ( )
